Company insolvencies have decreased in the first quarter of 2010 by 8.4% bringing the 12-month figure to a total of 4,082, a decrease of 17.8% year-on-year. But the figures could be hiding a secret tsunami of corporate failures, with HMRC being treated as a lender of last resort rather than a tax collector, but now as HMRC increasingly flexes its muscles. We spoke to Steve Clancy, Partner at MCR Tax Arrears Solutions, a specialist in this area for his opinion.
