UK SME’s have no control over their printing costs

Research has revealed that 52 per cent of small businesses in the UK don’t know how much they are spending on printing, with the figure rising to 66 per cent at the larger end of the SME spectrum.

The research also reveals that just under half of the SME’s surveyed spend over £10,000 on printing, with another 47 per cent of businesses printing more than a standard size box of paper per week.

The survey was conducted amongst decision makers and owners in businesses, including finance managers and directors. Businesses also admitted that most of their printing is superfluous and unnecessary, with 39 per cent revealing that their company is overspending because of unnecessary printing by employees.

A spokesperson for Cartridge People, who commissioned the research, commented: “Many businesses are signing up to managed print services for convenience without fully assessing the costs that can be saved alternatively. They’re failing to realise that there are often larger savings that can be made by using remanufactured cartridges that can often provide a greater ink or toner capacity and yet don’t compromise on quality. There are products available on our website which are fully backed by a three-year guarantee with a technical and engineering service included for added piece of mind. By not recognising the benefits of remanufactured cartridges, businesses are losing out on significant savings when it comes to their printing expenditure.”
