Centropy PR announces Building Schools for Africa programme

Centropy PR, one of the UK’s fastest growing tech and fintech communications agencies has today announced a new charitable campaign to design and build schools in Africa.

With the global Covid-19 pandemic wreaking havoc in the world’s poorest countries and social distancing restrictions preventing on-the-ground aid workers from travelling and providing much needed support, there has never been a more critical time to increase donations for school-building projects.

In rural parts of Africa, many communities still lack a physical building to serve the needs of school children, with many having to meet outside to teach and learn.

The campaign, which will be led by the company founder Steven George-Hilley, is the first overseas aid effort launched by the Shoreditch-based agency and will involve the first local school being constructed in war-torn Sierra Leone next year. Many children in the developing world lack access to even the most basic form of education. The schools programme will be paid for by Centropy PR as part of its annual charitable donations and executed on the ground by a third-party charity. The new school will provide a shelter and classroom for pupils, giving them a place to meet, learn and engage with teachers.

As well as building a physical school, the campaign will promote the importance of education within communities and support them to meet school expenses like teacher salaries by providing agricultural grants and technical support to develop collective rice farms and seed-lending schemes. It will also focus on the child development and well-being, empowering them to thrive at school with the help of a trusted adult.

Steven George-Hilley, co-founder, Centropy PR said, “The Covid-19 crisis has caused heartache and pain for millions of people around the world, that’s why it’s more important than ever to increase support for those who need it most. This is the first in a series of school-building campaigns which we are funding, and we are excited to play our part in the wider relief effort.”

Founded in September 2017, Centropy PR is a tech and fintech communications agency, working with FTSE 250, venture capital and private equity backed start-ups. The agency has a commitment to ensuring a substantial portion of its profits and service support goes towards charitable campaigns.
