Amazon is set to begin their Black Friday sale – 12 days before the official day, reports The Independent.

The online retailer will be releasing special offers every day up until 25 November in what is expected to be the biggest shopping day of the calendar year.

Customers will have the opportunity to purchase HD TV’s, phones and beauty products at discounted rates over the next week.

Amazon has reportedly doubled their workforce for November and December, bringing in temporary seasonal workers to cope with the extra demand.

Doug Gurr, the UK country manager for Amazon, said 1,000 small businesses will also be participating in the sale.

“In response to positive customer feedback for Black Friday deals, we are introducing the Black Friday Sale – 12 days of fantastic deals on must-have gifts and products, saving our customers millions of pounds,” Mr Gurr told the Mirror.

“We’re also thrilled to have over 1,000 small businesses featuring in our Black Friday sale, broadening the selection for our customers and enabling those businesses to boost their sales in the run-up to Christmas,” he added.

Black Friday has grown in popularity in the UK after Amazon and US owned supermarket Asda brought the sale to Britain following huge success in America.

Last year Amazon sold more than 7.4 million items, with up to 86 items sold per second.

Experts have predicted an estimated £5 billion will be spent online in the next week.
