Bannatyne, 63 had chest pains and was feeling “very unwell” while at work in his Darlington based head office on Monday and was admitted to Darlington Memorial Hospital for tests for a suspected heart attack.
After an overnight stay, the TV star was expected to return home on Tuesday afternoon to recover from the scare.
A representative for The Bannatyne Group said: ‘Everyone at the company is relieved that tests have confirmed Duncan’s health scare was not a heart attack and he will be discharged from hospital later today.’
‘He is now to spend a few days recuperating from his chest pains away from the stresses of his busy life.’
‘He has asked us to thank the many hundreds of people who have contacted him to express their good wishes and support and to thank the dedicated staff at Darlington Memorial Hospital for the kindness and care,’ the spokesperson said.
Bannatyne himself took to Twitter this morning to inform his followers on his progress.
He said: ‘Managed to get up & showered but have to stay in for more tests at noon!!’
He was also well enough on Monday evening to reassure his followers that the Scot had plenty of life left in him saying: ‘Hi. In hospital attached to a few wires feeling tired but am sure I will be discharged tomorrow fit & well (fit a pensioner can be anyway)’
All at Business Matters wish Duncan a Speedy recovery.
