A roadshow to help London’s SMEs navigate the UK’s exit from the EU will be launched next week, with an event chaired by the Deputy Mayor of London for Business, Rajesh Agrawal.

A diverse range of free events will be running from 9th-12th March, delivered by the London Growth Hub and supported by Google, Facebook, Funding London, The British Library and MOPAC.

The London Growth Hub is delivered by LEAP, London’s Local Enterprise Partnership which is chaired by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan. The London Growth Hub provides the capital’s entrepreneurs and SMEs with business support and expert guidance, and the Roadshow forms part of a wider push to help the capital’s SMEs prepare for change following the UK’s exit from the EU.

Events and workshops throughout the four days will look at how SMEs can take advantage of the opportunities that will come with future trading relationships and emerging technologies. These include:

  • Google: Building a digital marketing strategy – 9th March
  • Facebook: How to create engaging posts – 9th March
  • Funding London: Creating a financial strategy– 10th March
  • British Library: Developing new business ideas at a time of change – 12th March

Rajesh Agrawal, Deputy Mayor of London for Business, (pictured above at the London Business Awards this week) said: “In an uncertain business environment, it’s vital London’s SMEs understand how they could be affected by changes to trading relationships, threats to cyber security, and new laws and regulations as a result of our departure from the EU. The Mayor and I are determined to ensure every small business in London has access to the support it needs to manage risk and remain resilient in the face of wide-ranging change.”

The roadshow is running in parallel with a series of Business Resilience Workshops, also being delivered by the London Growth Hub, to help SMEs understand how they could be affected by EU Exit and what they can do to prepare for change.

The London Growth Hub has also launched the Ready2020 campaign, encouraging businesses to prepare for the challenges and opportunities of a new decade, in partnership with the Hertfordshire Growth Hub and South East Business Hub. The campaign is highlighting support available for SMEs and providing advice from Growth Hub business advisers and trade experts.
