According to new research in the UK, a majority of Britons think that if they entered reality TV show The Apprentice, then they would be able to win the contest. Furthermore, of this year’s candidates, a majority of respondents thought that Brett Butler-Smythe would win the show.
Initially, respondents were asked to reveal how they thought they would fare if they entered The Apprentice. Respondents were presented with a list of possible answers and were asked to select which applied to them. A majority of respondents said they thought they could win the show, whilst 19 per cent said they thought they’d be able to reach the final. Only 7 per cent thought they’d be fired by Lord Sugar week one of the show.
Next, those who thought that they would win The Apprentice were asked to reveal the reasons why they thought this. Again, researchers gave them a list of possible answers and asked them to select all that applied to them. The top five results were revealed as follows:
1. The tasks are simple and straightforward
2. I am more intelligent than previous winners
3. I have good business experience
4. I am extremely intelligent
5. Lord Sugar is too easy on contestants compared to previous series
Participants in the survey were then asked to reveal what they thought of this year’s candidates. A majority of respondents said they were not very impressive, whilst 28 per cent thought they were of the worst standard ever seen on the TV show. Just over 20 per cent thought that this year’s candidates were of a good standard.
Commenting on the results, George Charles of VoucherCodesPro.co.uk, who commissioned the survey, said: “I personally think this year’s Apprentice has been one of the worst. There has been no stand-out candidates and the quality overall has been poor. I’m surprised Lord Sugar has kept so many of them!”
Charles concluded: “Being an entrepreneur is fun, but it is a tough job, and I think going on The Apprentice is no different. Many Britons obviously feel as though they could win the show, but I think they’d be surprised how hard it is if they actually entered!”
