Getting to know you: Tony Pegg CEO of United Kapital

What do you currently do?
I am Chief Executive of United Kapital.  We provide working capital for SMEs across the UK.  The United Kapital cash advance is an innovative product, a real alternative to a traditional bank loan.
By looking at an asset that businesses may not even realise they have, future credit card and debit card sales from its customers, United Kapital can raise funds up to £150,000 for small businesses.
Repayments are flexible and work alongside the ebb and flow of the business, and SMEs are able to renew the cash advance should they require.
Who is your inspiration in business?
James Dyson – for never giving up on something he believed in.  His inventive nature is inspirational.  He continued to push the boundaries even when others said no!

Whom do you admire?
Those who are prepared to lose their life for the safety of others.
Looking back are there things you would have done differently?
Yes, many things but in business, as in life, you try something because it feels right at that time.  Sometimes things change or don’t work out as planned. Making mistakes is part of our education process; what you learn from it is the most important thing.
What defines your way of doing business?
I listen to our customers and staff to understand and determine the future landscape of the business and its products.  I do this to ensure we keep ahead of our competitors and evolve by adding value to what we believe is important.
What advice would you give to someone starting out?
Regular re-evaluation is very important.  Try to look at your business with a fresh perspective, even simple updates or small changes can make a difference and position you ahead of your competition.  Thorough examinations of revenues, outgoings and cash flow can ensure you are performing to plan each month.
Most of all be realistic in your planning and don’t expect too much too soon.
