Getting To Know: Stuntman Riky Ash

What do you currently do?

I work as a Television & Film Stuntman & Stunt Co-ordinator and am the owner of Stunt Company Falling For You. I have worked on over 500 productions world wide and have performed over 1000 stunts, I have even earned a place in The Guinness Book Of Records as the worlds most versatile Stuntman.

I am also a Motivational Speaker, After Dinner Speaker and Author of Self Help Book “With Confidence” helping people develop great Success throughout every aspect of their life & Business.

What is your inspiration in business?
To know that my contribution has made a difference, whether that is keeping an Artiste safe in my capacity as Stunt Co-ordinator or by performing an amazing Stunt that impresses members of the public and being able to live “The Dream” of doing The best job in the world. Also to help people better their lives in every possible way as a Motivational Speaker.

Who do you admire?
My admiration goes out to anyone who after suffering a knock back either physically or mentally will look for a solution to change their life for the better, or better themselves within their business or will aim to find another way to make something work, a great example of this is Thomas Edison if he had not continued with his experiments we would all be sitting here in the dark.

We will all experience knock backs throughout our business life, what is currently happening in the economy is a perfect example, you have to look at ways to become more resourceful and remember, you have only lost when you give up.

Looking back, are there things you would have done differently?
I was late in grasping new technology I did not have a computer until 2005 although I did have my website since 2001 this in itself did not affect my business, what utilizing new technology has done for me has streamlined by business I can have a script emailed to me in seconds and have my Risk Assessments emails back to production companies.

I also use online marketing and having my showreel on youtube for Production Companies around the world to see has saved me having to post out DVDs what new technology has done for me when set up correctly is promote and manage both my Stunt Company & My Motivational Speaking company while I am out of the office working.

What defines your way of doing business?
Reliability, I pride myself on being highly skilled and easy to work with, I can do exactly what I say I can do, my Showreel demonstrates this, I am polite, honest, intelligent and bring great value to companies and individuals who uses my services. I am an excellent communicator, I promptly return telephone calls and emails and provide detailed information about the services I provide.

I am a very positive person I don’t create problems I find ways to give Production Companies what they require in the safest possible way.

From a Motivational point of view my approach is very direct “I tell you what you need to hear not what you want to here”

What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
Be Polite and Reliable! Simple As, might sound obvious but there are so many businesses out there that do not value their customers. I had a very bad experience with Mercedes-Benz resulting in me taking them to court for very poor service I represented myself and won the case, I would never purchase one of their cars again and my spend with Mercedes-Benz was 100K + they make great cars but they do not value their customers anymore and my experience proves that if you don’t respect and value your customers you will lose them and what business today can afford to lose business.
