sadiq khan London pitch

Applications are open for the first of the Mayor of London’s TechInvest events for which will take place on January 18, 2018.

The Mayor of London’s TechInvest programme is an exclusive event series supported by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, in partnership with UK Business Angels Association (UKBAA), the trade body for angel and early-stage investing. This four-year series will highlight London’s position as a global hub for tech innovation by inviting London’s tech entrepreneurs to pitch their ground-breaking tech businesses to industry-leading investors.

Rajesh Agrawal, Deputy Mayor for Business, said “London’s tech sector is already the envy of cities across the globe and the Mayor of London’s TechInvest events will help to connect London’s emerging tech innovators with leading investors, enabling them to access that much-needed injection of capital to boost their potential for achieving growth and scale. I am delighted that the first event will focus on entrepreneurs working on Artificial Intelligence applications. AI is a huge growth area for entrepreneurship and innovation for London, bringing new capabilities and impacting across many of our key business sectors. I encourage all London-based AI companies who are seeking investment to scale to apply.”

At each event 10 selected entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to present their innovative technologies to a group of over 100 leading investors, drawn from the Angel and VC community. Selected businesses will also get one to one support and guidance with pitching to and engaging with investors.

The first in the TechInvest event series will focus on Artificial Intelligence. We are seeking London-based tech businesses, working on a wide range of innovative applications of AI, including healthcare, retail, transport, environment, manufacturing, financial services and legal and insurance services, or other relevant applications.

Businesses can be at start-up, early stage or scaling up and should demonstrate strong capacity for disruption and value creation through the use of AI, bringing benefits of efficiency, scale or speed to their sector and who are currently looking to access equity investment.

The first Mayor of London’s TechInvest event on 18th January will be hosted by the Mayor in London’s Living Room at the top of the iconic City Hall on London’s South Bank.
