The Maria Hanson Foundation, established in 2006 to create special memories for children and adults with life limiting illnesses, and to date more than 1300 families from across the UK have benefited from the Foundation’s help and support.
Founder Maria Hanson says: “I am thrilled to have Capital Business Media’s support. They are a significant force in the publishing world and I have no doubt that the Group’s influence will enable me to reach a far wider audience and enlist the support of individuals and businesses who otherwise would not have known about the vital work that we do.”
About her MBE, Maria comments: “This MBE honour has come as a huge shock. People like me aren’t the sort of people I expect to get this type of award, I’m just an ordinary person trying to do the best for families in tragic circumstances.”
Business Matters Online Editor Rebecca Jones says: “We decided to support the Maria Hanson Foundation last month and before the well-deserved announcement that founder Maria was to receive an MBE in this year’s New Year’s Honours list. Quite rightly Maria is being recognised for her outstanding contribution to improving the lives of people with life limiting illness.
“We are delighted to be able to support the Maria Hanson Foundation, as well as to encourage individuals and businesses to support its invaluable work by joining the Business Matters & Maria Hanson Foundation 100 Club, which will be formally launched later this month.
“If you can donate £200 a year (that works out at less than £20 each month), then you’ll be able to provide a holiday for a family for whom time is desperately precious.
“We’d like to see 100 individual or businesses sign up to the Business Matters & Maria Hanson Foundation 100 Club so that we can make a real difference to this charity, as well as the 100 families for which seaside holidays would be provided.
“In recognition of your efforts, the Maria Hanson Foundation will provide you with its logo to use on your website and other promotional materials, as well providing you with a special Business Matters 100 pin that you can wear proudly to show your support.”
The Maria Hanson Foundation offers seaside holidays to those with terminal and life threatening conditions. The holidays give a complete break away from the home and hospital environment.
The Maria Hanson Foundation is a 2014 Pride of Britain East Midlands Winner and Pride of Britain National Finalist and has received many other awards since its formation in 2006.
