The Webby Awards, which honour excellence on the Internet, voted upon by industry experts, creative thinkers, and former award winners and nominees chose London 2012’s supplier deltatre recognising a major achievement of LOCOG’s which was to make London 2012 the first truly digital games.
The organiser endeavoured to create a greater ‘sense of live’ coverage across its digital channels in order to attract a broad global audience and engage visitors with inspiring stories. In its role as ‘Supplier of Games Time Website and Results App to the London 2012 Games,’ deltatre, was appointed to design, build and support the official Games time website and mobile website as well as the official Results app of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
With broadcast restrictions limiting the use of video content, LOCOG and deltatre sought to maximise user interaction on both the web and mobile sites using real-time results data, unbiased editorial content and social media integration. By the conclusion of the Games, the website had been visited 431 million times by 109 million unique users.

Fans from over 200 countries used the website over the course of the Games.’

The Webby Award announcement follows deltatre’s acceptance of a BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) Award for Digital Creativity earlier this week. The company was honoured at a ceremony Sunday evening for its work in conjunction with Channel 4 delivering C4’s multi-platform coverage of the 2012 Paralympic Games.
