What can I do from today?

Cinema

As the rules governing what we are allowed to do under the Covid lockdown regulations are relaxed, we look at what we are now allowed to do.

Pubs and restaurants

You will be allowed to go to a restaurant or pub, and sit inside, but there will be no waiting at the bar: customers must order, eat and drink at their tables and observe social distancing. You can sit in groups of up to six to a table indoors and up to 30 outside.

Socialising

You can meet friends in groups of up to six, or two households indoors, and you can hug them for the first time since March last year. You can meet in a group of up to 30 outdoors.

Cinemas, theatres and museums

Cinemas, museums, children’s play areas and other indoor entertainments can reopen. Cultural events such as theatre and concerts can reopen at reduced capacity with social distancing in place.

Schools & University

Secondary school pupils will no longer be required to wear masks.
University students can return to face-to-face classes.

Travel

You can fly abroad but are discouraged from doing so for all but “essential” reasons, which include work and for caring responsibilities. Foreign travel will resume under a traffic light system where you will not need to quarantine if travelling to a “green” listed country. Domestic holidays were allowed from April 12 in household groups but you can now travel in groups of up to six people from more than one household.

Ceremonies

Up to 30 people will be able to attend weddings, receptions and other rite-of-passage celebrations. Limits on funerals still determined by the size of the venue.

Care homes

Care home residents will be able to have up to five named visitors, with two visitors able to attend at once provided they are tested and follow infection control measures. They will also be able to leave homes without having to isolate on their return.
