What do you currently do?
I am the Managing Director of Be A Better You Courses.
What was the inspiration behind your business?
I wanted to deliver accredited personal trainer courses with more flexibility to suit learners facing a variety of circumstances. At the time I started Be A Better You, no competitors were really using distance learning or blended learning properly in a way that gave learners more freedom to study when it suited them. I wanted Be A Better You to be known for delivering over and above industry standard knowledge, in time-frames that were realistic yet challenging.
Who do you admire?
I admire anyone in business who can start from next to nothing (or even with some seed capital) and build a high value and innovative business through having a strong vision and ambition. Elon Musk and Richard Branson have both started projects that disrupted their respective spaces. I find this willingness to step into the unknown and add value, impressive and inspiring.
Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently?
It would be easy to say no as I’m very proud of where Be A Better You is and the progress we are making year on year. But realistically I would say to any new entrepreneurs that having business partners makes the journey a bit smoother rather than going it alone.
What defines your way of doing business?
Keeping things simple and focusing on our core products and strengths then building from there. Making sure each client is treated with respect and given the time and energy they deserve.
What advice would you give to someone starting out?
Don’t worry too much about what the competition are doing and just get your business started. Make sure you have a passion for what you do, and just as importantly, that you are solving a problem that people are willing to pay you to solve.
