The Career of Fahaad Al Rajaan

Fahad Al Rajaan is a Kuwaiti businessman born on the 23rd December 1948.

He became Director General of the Public Institution for Social Security in Kuwait in 1984 and Chairman of Wafra in 1985, and was Chairman of Ahli United Bank from 2000 to 2015.

Kuwait Investment Company

Fahad Al Rajaan started his career in finance as a Manager at the Kuwait Investment Company, a position he earned soon after moving on from university. The Kuwait Investment Company has developed Kuwait’s economy and set the standard for effective and responsible investment in Kuwait since 1961.

Kuwait Real Estate Investment Consortium

Fahad Al Rajaan moved on from Kuwait Investment Company in 1981 to lead the Kuwait Real Estate Investment Consortium as Chairman and Managing Director. The Kuwait Real Estate Investment Consortium manages its own portfolio on top of overseeing ventures for private and corporate customers and invests in new businesses.

Public Institution for Social Security

In 1984, Fahad Al Rajaan was chosen as Director General of the Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS). The institution was founded in 1977 to ensure profits from Kuwait’s natural resources would enhance the lives of every Kuwait citizen.

PIFSS manages Kuwait’s pension scheme. PIFSS’s unique structure has enabled it to provide generous pensions to all citizens by enabling better liquidity for investment and providing more security to policy holders, who do not directly depend on future contributions for their pension funds.

Wafra Investment Advisory Group

In 1985, Fahad Al Rajaan became a Chairman of Wafra Investment Advisory Group, which was created to oversee PIFSS investments abroad; since its founding it has grown to become one of the world’s leading investment groups, managing almost $10 billion in assets.

Ahli United Bank

From 1992 to 2015, Fahad Al Rajaan was Company Director of Ahli United Bank. In this position he was in charge of Bahrain’s biggest lender by market. In 1971 the bank became 100% owned by the Kuwaiti people and government.

Fahad Al Rajaan graduated in 1974 with a degree in Business Administration from the American University in Washington DC. He is a proficient golfer and won the 2013 Dubai Duty Free Cup, beating four previous champions.
