I prioritize by setting strict boundaries for work and family time and remain disciplined about managing my schedule. It’s crucial for me to ensure that while I serve my constituents effectively, I also make time for my family, who supports and motivates me.

What major challenges do you see facing Texas today?

Major challenges include managing our rapid population growth, ensuring sustainable economic development, and addressing educational disparities. Additionally, as our demographics shift, we need to ensure that all Texans have access to healthcare, quality education, and job opportunities.

What are your long-term goals in your political career?

My long-term goals include continuing to serve my constituents effectively and possibly exploring higher office to impact broader change. I am passionate about reforming systems that affect education and healthcare to ensure that they serve everyone equitably, and I’d like to amplify my efforts on a larger scale.

How do you approach conflict resolution within your role?

In conflict resolution, I always strive to listen first to understand all perspectives. It’s important to foster an environment where all parties feel heard. I then seek common ground and work towards a solution that addresses the concerns of all involved, ensuring decisions are made in the best interests of the constituents.

What’s your advice to young people interested in pursuing a career in politics?

My advice would be to get involved in your community early on. Understand the issues your community faces, volunteer, and take active roles in local organizations. Education is also crucial—arm yourself with knowledge about public policy and the legislative process. And most importantly, always carry your values and passion for service.

My legal background has been invaluable. It has provided me with a strong foundation to understand the intricacies of law-making and the importance of crafting legislation that is just and enforceable. It helps me critically analyze legislation and foresee potential legal challenges.

What initiatives are you currently working on to improve mental health resources in Texas?

Currently, I’m working on initiatives to increase funding for mental health services and to integrate mental health education in schools. We’re also looking at expanding telemedicine services to rural areas to ensure that mental health care is accessible to all Texans, regardless of their geographic location.

What do you find most rewarding about your job?

The most rewarding aspect is seeing the tangible impact of my work on the lives of my constituents—whether it’s through direct interactions, improved legislation, or community feedback. Knowing that my efforts contribute to bettering lives and shaping a stronger community is profoundly fulfilling.
