Never use words that you don’t know, just because you want to look fancier. It’s true, new words can help your writing in a certain way, but don’t do it too much.
If you continuously learn new words, you will be able to be more persuasive in your writing. You can do it by reading a lot of books and writing the unknown words on a piece of paper, along with their meaning. It might also be a good idea to use it in a sentence – it helps in keeping it in your mind easily. Try to read different pieces that cover a wide range of topics, from fiction to non-fiction.
Also, having a thesaurus might not be a bad idea, either, especially when it comes to writing essays. At some point, you might find yourself using the same word over and over again, andit’s best to add variety to your language – and you can do that by searching them in the thesaurus and finding other words that can be usedfor your common words.
