The privately-owned retailer also cut costs by ditching its sales catalogue and encouraging shoppers to buy items from its websites instead, reports The Daily Mail.
The retailer, which also owns the Littlewoods brand and has teamed up with TV presenter Myleene Klass (pictured), has emulated its rivals Asos and Amazon by only selling items over the internet.
Group sales rose 3 per cent to £1.8billion for the year to June 30, 2015.
The lion’s share came from Very which delivered £850million in sales, up 21.1 per cent on the previous year.
The firm, which is owned by billionaires Sir David and Sir Frederick Barclay, said it would now focus on its Very and Littlewoods brands having closed Woolworths, K&Co and Isme.
