Nicola Sturgeon says small businesses vital to Scotland

The organisation said the next administration must reform the business rates system, ease the burden of red tape on firms and make it easier for them to win public contracts.

The demands are included in the manifesto prepared by the federation ahead of the Scottish Parliament elections in May.

The Scottish Herald reports that First Minister Nicola Sturgeon will tell the federation’s national conference in Glasgow on Friday that Scotland can’t succeed without small businesses.

Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell MP and Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson MSP will also address the conference.
