The contract wins are announced as Lord Sebastian Coe leads a trade mission of UK companies to Brazil for the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games.
AndArchitects are teaming up with Rio-based practice Lopes, Santos & Ferreira Gomes who have won a contract to provide designs for the Handball Arena. 3DReid, who worked on the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, have secured a position on the team delivering Rio’s Olympic Velodrome. They will work with local practice BLAC Architects as specialist venue consultants, advising local designers on the design development and delivery of the Velodrome.
Trade and Investment Minister Lord Green said:”We showed the world what we can do in London 2012 – now is the time to capitalise on this great success and the expertise so many British companies demonstrated in delivering the Games. UK firms are taking the initiative and thinking long-term by linking up with Brazilian companies, which is vital to winning contracts for Rio.
“I congratulate both architecture firms on securing these deals. There are still many opportunities out there for UK companies to win business for Rio, new tenders are opening up all the time. UKTI in London and Rio stand ready to facilitate this and help more UK firms win business for the next Games.”

These latest successes mean that UK companies now have 30 contracts related to World Cup 2014 and Rio 2016 business in a variety of sectors. The deals follow two years of engagement by UKTI, working with the Brazilians to showcase UK businesses.
