To celebrate the expansion of its innovative Fast File feature, which now enables both sole traders and directors of limited companies to complete and submit their Self Assessment returns directly to HMRC from within FreeAgent, the company will give one lucky customer £5,000 towards the amount of tax they owe.
The prize draw – which is open to any sole trader or Limited Company director who subscribes to FreeAgent and submits their Self Assessment tax return through the system before midnight on January 31st 2015 – marks the second year running that FreeAgent has pledged to give £5k to help cover a small business’s tax bill. The lucky winner will follow in the footsteps of Scottish metalworking company Moray Metals, who won the prize in 2014.
Ed Molyneux, CEO and co-founder of FreeAgent, said: “Our mission is to make life easier for small businesses across the UK when it comes to managing their finances – so we’re thrilled to not only be offering more people than ever the ability to complete and submit their tax returns from within FreeAgent, but also the chance to win their tax bill.
“Completing and filing tax returns can be a headache for many small business owners, but our Fast File feature is helping to simplify Self Assessment and alleviate some of the anxiety and stress that people traditionally feel when submitting their tax returns.
“We’re already helping to make Self Assessment a breeze for many sole traders and limited company directors throughout the UK in 2015 – and while we can’t make your tax bill disappear completely, we’re looking forward to easing the burden for one lucky small business and giving them a boost for the year ahead.”
With the introduction of Fast File, FreeAgent was the first online accounting system to offer sole traders and limited company directors in the UK the ability to automatically fill and file Self Assessment tax returns without the need to use HMRC Online.
For sole traders, FreeAgent automatically completes up to 90% of the self-employment forms directly from the user’s existing accounting data, which saves valuable time and hassle when doing their Self Assessment; particularly during the traditionally stressful weeks leading-up to the filing deadline on January 31st.
