What do you currently do?
Founder and MD of vrSoftware, the authors of a collection of visual planning and communication tools for the fashion retail industry.
My role is that of visionary leader in that I identify retail issues, build visual solutions to address those needs and then go out and find partners with an interest in selling our products as part of their overall solution.
What is your inspiration in business?
I’m an engineer at heart and solving problems is what fuels the creativity and feeds the inspiration.
Who do you admire?
Steve Jobs (RIP) for really making a dent in the universe by delivering beautifully simple solutions. Larry Page and Sergey Brin for making the web really free and useful through Google.
Looking back, are there things you would have done differently?
Absolutely! With the benefit of hindsight I would have tried not to swim against the flow of the crowd. Being an innovator often means that you are isolated and waste a lot of effort trying to convince nay-sayers.
What defines your way of doing business?
Open, honest and transparent partnerships.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
Clearly define what you want to achieve and stick to your guns when the doubters start pouring cold water on your ideas.
