From Gaza to Boston Real Estate Leadership

Anwar Faisal’s story starts in the Gaza Strip, Palestine. It begins with education, ambition, and a belief that hard work could create opportunity.

“I always believed education was the path forward,” Faisal says. “No matter where you start, learning can change your future.”

After graduating from Ain Shams University in Egypt, Faisal moved to Saudi Arabia and worked in construction. The experience gave him a close look at how buildings, business operations, and long-term planning worked together.

But he wanted more.

Faisal later moved to the United States to continue his education. He earned a master’s degree in communications from Boston University in 1983. At the time, he was building a new life in a new country while learning how to navigate American business culture.

That period shaped the direction of his career.

How Anwar Faisal Started in Real Estate

In 1984, Faisal made a decision that would change everything. He bought his first property: a small one-bedroom apartment measuring just 590 square feet.

“That first apartment taught me everything,” he says. “I learned how to manage risk, deal with people, and solve problems every day.”

The investment was modest. But it became the foundation for something much larger.

Over the next four decades, Faisal steadily expanded his portfolio across Greater Boston. Through Alpha Management Corporation, he built a business focused heavily on student housing near universities throughout the city.

Today, he owns thousands of residential units.

His timing matched Boston’s growing demand for housing tied to colleges and universities. But Faisal says growth was never just about buying more buildings.

“You have to understand what people need,” he explains. “Students coming from different countries need guidance, not just an apartment.”

That approach helped Alpha Management become well known among both domestic and international students looking for housing in Boston.

Building Alpha Management Corporation

Boston’s rental market is competitive and fast-moving. Faisal built Alpha Management by staying involved in the details and maintaining long-term relationships.

For more than 30 years, the company has focused on simplifying the rental process for students and families. Many of the company’s properties are located close to major universities, making convenience a major part of the business model.

Faisal credits consistency for much of the company’s success.

“I never looked for shortcuts,” he says. “I focused on doing the work every day and improving little by little.”

That steady mindset helped the business survive changing markets, rising property costs, and shifts in the economy.

It also helped create a family-run culture. Today, Faisal’s children are involved in the business as well.

“Working with my children is one of the things I’m most proud of,” he says. “We built this together over time.”

Why Community Work Matters to Anwar Faisal

While real estate became the center of Faisal’s career, philanthropy became a major part of his identity.

He says success only matters if it helps other people.

“I believe if you are fortunate, you should give back,” Faisal says.

Over the years, he has donated one-third of his income to charitable causes. He also funded the development of two mosques in Brighton to support the local Islamic community.

Beyond that, he supports organizations including The Boston Islamic Seminary and The Palestinian Cultural Center for Peace. He has also contributed to schools, hospitals, and community programs.

His charitable work reflects the same long-term thinking that shaped his business career.

“You build communities the same way you build businesses,” he says. “With patience, trust, and consistency.”

Lessons From Four Decades in Boston Real Estate

Faisal’s career spans a period of major change in Boston real estate. Property values climbed dramatically. Neighborhoods transformed. Student housing demand increased year after year.

Through it all, Faisal remained focused on steady growth rather than rapid expansion.

His career also highlights the role immigrant entrepreneurs continue to play in American business.

Arriving in the United States with an educational background and construction experience, Faisal built a company that became deeply connected to one of the country’s largest university markets.

Outside of work, he enjoys walking, going to the gym, and spending time with family.

Even after decades in business, he still speaks about growth in simple terms.

“Success is not one big moment,” Faisal says. “It’s small steps repeated over many years.”

That mindset helped transform a single one-bedroom apartment purchase into a real estate business that now stretches across Greater Boston.

And for Faisal, the journey still comes back to the same core belief he carried from Gaza years ago: education, persistence, and community can create opportunity.
