Business Matters is on the hunt for an additional staff writer who will work on the website for the UKs largest business magazine as well as for the company’s variety of consumer editorial outlets.

Business Matters, the UKs largest business magazine and associated website, is focused on UKs small and medium sized business sector.

Our monthly printed title has over 200,000 readers with our website having over one million unique visitors per month.

The full-time role is primarily based at home and is ideally suited to someone with previous editorial experience.

Whilst, you are free to work flexibly with your time, the role will include attending virtual and physical events when they happen.

Previous journalism experience of at least two years is a requirement.  A good news journalist with a working knowledge of business and business technology is also ideal.

This role would suit a writer who may already be working in the industry and looking for a new challenge, or a graduate from a journalism course looking for their first step in the business to business media world.

The role requires:

  • A sound journalism background and the ability to construct well-written news stories
  • A knowledge and understanding of small business.
  • A passion and ability to turn your hand from news to feature writing
  • You’ll be happy to work from home, will be a self-starter and driven by writing the best stories that get people engaged.

Pride in producing excellent, engaging content will be what gets you up in the morning – as well as an interest in all things motoring.

You’ll have a proven track record of being able to conduct excellent interviews that glean great news angles and you’ll be bustling with ideas.

The role will be largely focused on our in-house business title Business Matters, writing news and features for this website.

You may also be required to work on various projects for our consumer editorial team, producing content for our contract clients Aston Martin and Infiniti.

You’ll report to editor Paul Jones and work alongside a team of talented writers producing content for tens of thousands of readers every month.

Salary scale: £27,000 – £30,000
