Women ‘prefer computers to men’

Women spend an average of 9.3 hours a day with their PC, compared with 3.6 hours with their other halves, according to a poll of almost 3,000 Americans.

The surevey went on to say that only one in five of the women said she wished she could spend more time with her partner than with her computer, despite developing problems like carpal tunnel syndrome and repetitive stress injuries, said Harris Interactive, who carried out the study

Nearly two-thirds of women spent more time with their computer than they did shopping or outdoors, eight in 10 spent more time with it than exercising, and four in 10 were with it more than with their family.

The results are explained in part by the fact that adult Americans spend a bigger chunk of their day working than carrying out any other activity. They spend an average of 8.2 hours in the office, compared to 7.6 hours asleep, the second most popular pastime.
