Getting to know you: Sally Overhead

What do you currently do?

I have hands on role in the running of my two businesses. The Zebra Group which is an established payroll business and Mojomums, my newest venture that helps gets mums back into work and get their ‘mojo’ back.

What is your inspiration in business?

I am driven by the need to be successful, be a role model to my children and provide a secure future for my family.

Who do you admire?

This is a tough question, apart from the ususal suspects that are hard not to admire like Richard Branson, I think that being good is business is about being focused and working hard, so I tend to admire and be fascinated by people like Andrew Lloyd Weber and Steve Jobs who are complete one offs in this world. These are succeses that cant be replicated and take a certain kind of talent / brain you need to be born with.

Looking back, are there things you would have done differently?

Yes, lots. Though ive learnt from my mistakes and think its important to make them. My biggest mistakes have been in recruiting the wrong people. This is costly both financially and in time.

What defines your way of doing business?

Honest, direct and creative.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out?

Set clear goals, work out a realistic growth plan, do your research and believe in what you are doing.
