We spoke to Lusso Stone founder Wayne Spriggs, a North East Businessman set to go stateside about his inspiration in business and who he admires.
What do you currently do?
I am the owner and founder of Lusso Stone. Day to day I oversee the running of the company, constantly looking for new ways to expand our lines and keep our customers happy. As well as maintaining our current operations in Teesside, we are also expanding into the US shortly, so a lot of my time at the moment is revolving around our international venture.
What was the inspiration behind your business?
To provide affordable luxury. I started Lusso Stone because I saw an opportunity in the market to create a company that would be far superior to the others that are currently out there. Having spent my previous years in the property development sector, I found it a struggle to locate high-end bathroom products at reasonable prices.
The majority of companies all tend to offer the same basic ranges, so having a sharp eye and a keen interest in product design, I set out to create and manufacture my own collection and that’s how Lusso Stone was born. We want our customers to experience luxury at affordable prices and that’s exactly what we offer.
Who do you admire?
I get a lot of inspiration from the likes of Elon Musk. He’s a family man, running several multi-billion dollar companies, which is some achievement!
Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently?
Other than I wish I had started it earlier, I wouldn’t have done anything differently! I had a complete business plan mapped out in my head and 3 years on I am still only 25% through said plans. There is a lot more to come and a lot more I want to achieve with Lusso Stone. Our company has gone from strength to strength over the past few years, but I think there is still plenty more for us to accomplish.
What defines your way of doing business?
My main focus with Lusso Stone is to create easy to use products that are also innovative and interesting. We are constantly perfecting our range and ironing out the creases. Considering the number of sales we do on a weekly bases, we very rarely receive returns, which brings us great satisfaction, knowing that our customers enjoy our products so much.
I like to make sure everything is done to perfection at Lusso Stone, whether it’s how we showcase our products on the website, to the attention we give to our customers. We are constantly working on every area of the business, fine-tuning each aspect to create a company that offers the very best.
What advice would you give to someone starting out?
My advice to anyone out there looking to set up their own business would be to start small but think big at all times. Be very thorough in what you do and take your time, it’s not a race. Invest now, to reap later. You’re not going to have a harvest if you don’t plant the seed!
